For more than ten years, I have been photographing my Clients in their newest form: as newborns! I’ve watched them grow, from sitting, to walking, to running, to now starting and excelling at sports. While I have so loved (and still do!) photographing newborns, it only makes sense that my work would evolve to include these budding all-stars.
Sports have always been an instrumental part of my life. From learning to skate on the ponds in the front field, to playing volleyball and makeshift baseball on the front lawn, to touring parts of Europe with my High School hockey team. Now that my own kids are fully involved the world of sports, I spend all of my time either at the rink or the diamonds, either freezing or covered in dust. There’s nowhere else I’d rather be.
After…let’s call it an ‘undesired break a few years ago’ I went on a creative adventure to pump some life back into my photography. I had been spending more and more time on my second business, and less with my camera. So I ordered some fancy coloured lights, and hauled my daughter into the studio for a day of creative genius. In this case, creative genius = moving my lights around a hundred times, and begging my daughter for ‘just five more minutes pleeeeaaaase.’ The result? A badass photo of a badass young girl in her ball uniform with enough attitude to make you take a second glance. From there, we’ll say the rest is history.
Over the past two-ish years, I’ve taken on new adventures, made new goals, and found a whole new world of Sports photography that I didn’t even know existed. It’s so different from Newborns, Families, and Portrait photography, but I’m bringing some high end portraiture into the Sports world. It hasn’t been without growing pains, as I, a very shy person in reality, have put myself out there in ways I never would have dreamed five years ago. From individual athletes, to teams, to entire organizations, I am all for the growth, new challenges, and all the athletes that I hope to see in the big leagues someday.
See you at the *insert your sport’s location here*!
I’ll just…leave these here. Because I have spent half the day trying to come up with the perfect sentiment to go with these photos, and I just don’t think one exists.
It`s been 84 years since I last posted anything on Social Media...
Just kidding, it`s only been forever. Some of you may know that I accidentally fell into the world of Sports Photography last year. Since then, I`ve been busy photographing all the sports, and I`ve had no time for my usual Newborns and Families. And my gosh have I MISSED this!
Thank you to one of the best families I know for coming along for a short notice session. ❤

GIVEAWAY!
For anyone who knows me outside of the Studio, you likely know that hockey has always been a massive part of my life. When I was a young girl, playing girls hockey like my daughter is now, I had an amazing coach who helped me become who I am today, in more ways than one. I remember having the opportunity to go watch the Canadian Women`s Olympic team play, skate with some of the players, and see that hockey isn`t just a boy`s sport. Seeing the huge strides that Women`s hockey is taking these days and seeing my daughter experience and love the game makes my heart so happy! And now I have the opportunity to take my daughter to watch today`s Female Greats, just like I did. And yours!
I`m so excited to be able to give away a set of FOUR tickets to the December 16th Canada vs. USA Women`s Rivalry Series game, plus one Name in Lights Mini Session with me!
