Styling your Family portraits
Your session is booked...now what?! How on earth do you put together outfits worthy of hanging on your wall? Take a deep breath, it's easier than you think!
Start with yourself. If you're anything like me, you're picky, know what looks good on you best, and will have the hardest time dressing yourself. So start with yourself. Choose the biggest items first, like a top or a dress, and move on from there. Once you have your base outfit chosen, move on to the next Parent. Choose something that coordinates with your outfit, but nothing super matchey. From there, head to your kiddos. With so many options out there for children, choosing outfits to round out the family will be a breeze. Once everyone's base outfits are chosen, move on to layers, accessories, and footwear.
A note on footwear: typically during a family session, we're moving, walking, crouching and sitting. You'll be walking on uneven ground, through tall grasses, and over rocks so I highly suggest choosing stable footwear. No spiky heels or platform boots are needed for these family sessions!

I’m supposed to be finishing up books for tax season today, so *naturally* I’m doing anything but that. Which reminded me of the time a few weeks ago that I was
*supposed* to be cleaning the studio and setting up for sessions, but instead I pulled down the wallpaper, took apart half my shelving unit, put up some trim, and made the studio a general disaster instead. Luckily my kiddos thought taking over the wallpaper seemed pretty fun!

Models needed! Now that the website is updated 👀 I am looking for some athletes age 9-14 in sports that are currently under-or not at all represented on the website: football, soccer, lacrosse, dance, cheer, rugby, basketball, you name it! My Family Calendar is now open with limited availability for booking May-August, with September and October open for dibs with dates selected at a later time. Please note, while dates can be selected, times will be chosen closer to the date to best maximize the sunset.

If you asked me ten years ago, this is a post that I absolutely, adamantly, would never ever write. Full stop. But seasons change, forks in the roads come, and here I am, ending the year 2025 and my career as a newborn photographer in one fell swoop. I am *not* putting my camera down altogether, just making official what has been for at least the past year: come the strike of midnight, my newborn journey est fini. Thank you to everyone who trusted me with their tiny newborns. I appreciate you more than you will ever know. And to end, I leave you with a tiny amount of behind the scenes that I took and never posted, because I suck at social media. That is a story I just can’t seem to finish.
